BRINGING COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO TAKE BACK THE AURORA BRIDGE.

On average, one person attempts suicide from the Aurora Bridge every other month.

It’s not just the hopeless and their families who suffer. This problem impacts those who live and work in the neighborhood.  Emergency response teams put themselves at risk regularly.

Seattle Fire Fighter, Heath Rainwater, was on duty in the late spring of 2009 and received a call to attend someone attempting to take their own life on the Aurora Bridge. This particular situation ended in tragedy, and it was devastating for everyone involved. Unfortunately, there are many individuals that share this similar experience in our immediate neighborhood.

Heath Rainwater also pastors a church in Wallingford, The Vine Christian Ministries, located just blocks from the bridge. The "Take Back The Bridge Project” was spurred out of his vision to bring the community - neighbors, churches and businesses - together to spiritually address the stronghold on this bridge through prayer in the name of Jesus, to continue to build awareness for suicide prevention and to help raise funds for the Crisis Clinic.

The Crisis Clinic, located just north of downtown Seattle, fields over 170,000 calls annually from people in crisis. By raising money and recruiting additional volunteers for this vital community organization, we can truly make a difference. As every fire fighter knows, each person's life is valuable and worth saving.

We’re asking you to join with us to take a stand for hope in our community. Together, with your help, we can make a real difference in the lives of many.
